season 2, episode 22, “f. emasculata”
this is kind of “the x-files” ripping off the movie “outbreak” which premiered less than two months before this episode. and it is totally gross. pus-spurting boils bursting on peoples faces? ew. scully being trapped at the prison and possibly infected brought effective intensity to the narrative, though. and then cigarette smoking man makes an appearance and immediately the stakes are higher. i liked the addition of the government/pharmaceutical conspiracy angle. the stand off at the end was sufficiently nail-biting, as well.
really? the only way to test if your infected is a creepy bug test? that takes 30 minutes?
the guy who plays dr. osborne will always be geena davis’ patronizing boss in “speechless” to me.
scully and mulder keep making sure the other is ok on the phone and telling each other to take care of themselves.
m: “you can’t protect the public by lying to them.” csm: “it’s done everyday.”
skinner: “for every step you take they’re three steps ahead.” m: “what about you? where do you stand?” skinner: “i stand right on the line you keep crossing.”
