the x-files project: ep 4:16

the x-files

season 4, episode 16, “unrequited”

aired: 2.23.97

this is one of those military episodes that bores me out of my skull. it does help that skinner is in it, but not much. it’s fun to watch our heroes try to stop an invisible man, but that’s the extent of the entertainment. it does make you wonder if our government ever does these injustices to the men that serve our country and then try to cover them up. the possibility of that conspiracy is worth addressing and very sad if it’s a legitimate transgression. file this one with “the walk” and “sleepless” under boring military episodes and call it a day.

rating: 1.5

wandering thoughts:

crying tears of blood is pretty cool, but in this episode it’s creep factor falls flat.

at least teager got to die with scully as the last thing he sees. i’d die happy.

it is endearing that mulder is so passionate at the end about exposing the military’s wrongdoings and everyone else is over it.

shipper’s corner:

mulder touches scully a couple times for no reason.

notable quotables:

s: “i asked the doctor and he laughed at me.”
